The Resideo VC6613AJ1000/U motorized zone valve is a hydronic 2-way valve with a 3/4" BSPP female threaded connection, designed to automatically control the flow of hot or cold water in heating and cooling systems. It features a 230 V electric actuator, ON/OFF control via 3-wire SPDT signal, and an SPDT auxiliary contact, offering a compact solution for zone regulation.
The VC series is suitable for domestic and small commercial installations, and can be used to control radiator circuits, fan coils, convectors, and other hydronic emitters. Its balanced construction allows operation with a static pressure of up to 20 bar and a maximum differential pressure of 4 bar.
The Resideo VC6613AJ1000/U is designed to automatically open or close water flow according to commands received from the control system. It can be integrated with thermostats, aquastats, flow switches, and other control devices compatible with its electrical configuration.
In a zoned installation, it allows independent control of the flow circulating to a specific part of the system, helping adapt heating or cooling operation to the demand of each room or circuit.
This VC series version uses an actuator for 200-240 V AC mains supply at 50/60 Hz. It is commercially identified in Spain as a 230 V version and uses a 3-wire SPDT ON/OFF control system.
When the controller requests opening, the actuator moves the internal mechanism until the corresponding position is reached. When the opposite command is received, the motor drives the valve back to the closed position. Therefore, it does not use a conventional spring return system, but rather a motorized bidirectional drive.
The nominal travel time specified by Resideo is approximately 7 seconds at 50 Hz. At 60 Hz, the manufacturer indicates operation approximately 20% faster.
The actuator incorporates internal logic so that it only consumes energy while moving the valve to the requested position. Its consumption during operation is approximately 4 VA.
The VC6613AJ1000/U includes an SPDT auxiliary contact, which can be used to coordinate the valve position with other system components. This makes it possible, for example, to control a circulation pump, send a signal to a control system, or enable another device once the valve has reached the required position.
The technical documentation for the VC series specifies an auxiliary contact rating of 1 A at 250 V AC, 50/60 Hz, with a minimum load of 0.05 A at 24 V DC.
The valve supports a maximum operating static pressure of 20 bar and a maximum differential pressure of up to 4 bar. The balanced cartridge construction allows the sealing of the ports to be practically independent of the differential pressure across the valve.
In the 2-way version, water can flow in either direction, providing flexibility during hydraulic circuit design and installation.
The VC series is designed to work with water and water-glycol mixtures of up to 50%, provided the fluid quality is suitable for hydronic installations according to Resideo specifications.
The normal medium temperature range is between 1 and 95 °C. Technical documentation also covers short-term peaks of up to 120 °C under the conditions established by the manufacturer.
The hydraulic body is made of brass. The stem assembly incorporates stainless steel, and the cartridge uses technical materials such as Ryton, Fortron, or Noryl, depending on the manufacturing version. The seals and sealing elements are made of EPDM.
All the main moving and sealing components are concentrated in the cartridge assembly, simplifying valve construction and future maintenance operations.
Resideo designs VC hydronic valves to take advantage of a sinusoidal actuator movement. This feature promotes quiet operation and helps reduce the effects associated with water hammer when the installation is correctly sized.
As with any hydraulic system, excessive flow velocity or insufficient pressure at high temperature can generate noise in the pipes, so the installation sizing criteria must be respected.
The valve includes a manual opening lever that allows the flow to be kept open regardless of electrical operation. This function can be used during filling, bleeding, or draining operations and also allows the valve to be opened manually in the event of a power interruption.
When electrical operation is restored, the actuator can automatically respond again to the control system commands.
One of the advantages of the Resideo VC range is that the actuator head can be removed and replaced without draining the hydraulic circuit, provided the valve body and cartridge assembly remain installed in the pipework.
This design makes maintenance easier, as it allows work on the motor or gear train without necessarily removing the hydraulic body from the installation.
In versions with a 3-wire SPDT actuator, a power interruption causes the valve to remain in the position it was in at the time of the outage. When power returns, the actuator responds again to the controller demand.
This behavior must be taken into account when designing the system, especially when the application requires a specific fail-safe position in the event of an electrical fault.
The Resideo VC6613AJ1000/U offers a flow control solution for installations that require a 2-way motorized valve, 3/4" female connection, and 230 V supply. Its fast actuation, high pressure rating, and the ability to replace the head without draining the circuit make both installation and subsequent maintenance easier.
To ensure proper operation, the pressure and temperature limits, electrical wiring diagram, and installation instructions specified by Resideo must be observed, and the compatibility of the controller used with its 3-wire SPDT ON/OFF system must also be verified.
